FSMA regulations require that key personnel in charge of developing and implementing the Food Safety Plan at a company must be a Preventive Controls Qualified Individual, PCQI. The Preventive Controls for Human Food (PCHF) Course is offered either as a 2.5 day-instructor-led course or in a 2-part Blended course, part 1 being on-line and part 2 being instructor led.
Rachel Montgomery of Simple Compliance Solutions has provided the 2.5 day course since mid-2016 and the part 2 since early 2017 when she pioneered with offering the 8-hour instructor led part 2 of the Human Food course, live, virtually and interactively in 2 4-hour sessions to enable the training without the time, expense, and hassles of travel, and being away from the work site for a full day.
Simple Compliance Solutions also has years of experience in actual food processing on two continents and helping clients on five continents, and participants rave about the meaningful examples Montgomery can share, and we have received excellent feedback about how the participants feel very engaged with the instructor and other participants.
Note: The blended course covers the same material; however, all 16 modules are on-line and participants participate only in a one day instructor-led, live interactive portion of the blended course. More information below.

This FSPCA Blended Training course was developed to provide an alternative for individuals to complete the FSPCA Preventive Controls for Human Food course. The Blended course consists of 2 parts. Part 1 is online and Part 2 is instructor-led. Both parts must be completed in order to obtain the certificate.
Simple Compliance Solutions offers Part 2 as virtual instructor-led session so that you can complete the entire training online – saves time and money! |
Blended Part 1 Portion of Course:
The Blended Part 2 described below requires a certificate from the 20 module on-line Part 1 version of the FSPCA Blended course. The 20 on-line modules can be done in one’s own time, in one or multiple sessions; individuals have completed in as few as 6 hours. The Blended part 1 is $198 payable directly to FSPCA or through this website which also offers an option which includes both parts. Or if you have already taken a Part 1, you may book here for Part 2 only.
Blended Part 2 Portion of Course:
Live virtual interactive instructor-led part 2 of blended course. The course follows the Blended Part 2 course exactly but is live, interactive, instructor-led over Zoom or a similar platform. Usually the course is split over two days, which benefits those in manufacturing who cannot be away from operations for a full day. Personnel won’t have to leave the the plant or office AND won’t have to be tied up all day in training. This is the perfect solution for busy manufacturing managers and for executives alike! Include additional team members without disrupting the workplace!
Private virtual training is also available. Include your whole team to enhance implementation and have back-ups to handle the seven duties of a PCQI, including the 7-day requirement for review of records.

“Great course! Skeptical of webex course at first because it’s not my favorite route. However, Rachel did an excellent job. Warm welcoming environment, knowledgeable and personable. I like how the virtual break-out rooms were used, this was new. Had a great group to work with and good conversations. I also liked how it was spread over 4 days (Virtual Online Course – Preventive Controls for Animal Food). It can be a lot of information to take it, so felt this was good. This was the best webex training I’ve attended!”
– Lorie Hannappel
